Fitting a Mk 7/7M Windscreen

It it important to appreciate that when the windscreen is fitted to a Jaguar Mk 7, the glass is not in line with the metal edge of the windscreen aperture.  It is in fact, in front of the windscreen aperture.  Looking at our RS1 windscreen seal you should find two relatively large grooves which point in opposite directions.  It should be obvious which groove/slot the glass is fitted into.

We suggest the glass is first fitted into the rubber surround, then the assembled glass and rubber seal placed against the windscreen aperture, having first put strong string into the groove that faces outwards.  If one person holds the glass and seal against the aperture and a second person carefully pulls the string from the inside of the car, this should cause the rubber groove to go over the edge of the metal windscreen aperture and install the screen in the correct manner.

There is only 1 groove for the chrome strip that surrounds the windscreen seal.  The outer edge of the chrome strip fits into a groove, but the remainder of the chrome strip was originally held onto the rubber seal using a black adhesive called Bostik.  Obviously, some other suitable adhesive could be used.
