Mk 7 Handbrake Cables

The handbrake cable for a Mk 7 with manual transmission (Jaguar number C4930, our BR97) goes from the one back wheel to a compensator which is attached to the handbrake lever situated on the floor between the individual bucket seats (a rather complex assembly), then to the other rear wheel. There is only one cable.

The Mk 7s with automatic transmission have the same cable as above, but in the middle of the car, this goes to a ‘cross shaft’ assembly, then a second cable goes to a lever in the driver’s side footwell area, and a third, short cable goes to the handbrake lever (which is the ‘umbrella’ type and is situated under the dashboard).
