Introduction from ZvUnEx

We are a family owned company who been restoring old Jaguars since 1997.  It is important to say from the beginning that restoration is an expensive process – it is impossible to fully restore a Jaguar MK VII, MK VIII or MK IX for under £40,000. Often a frame-off full restoration is even more and a concourse is even more expensive, since it involves doing everything correctly and taking no short-cuts.

We initially inspect the project and together with the client discuss a budget and a time frame. Based on the initial inspection we then dismantle, catalogue and restore the parts. During the restoration we send a monthly invoice with photos and a description of what has been done and what is to be done next.

We have a constant dialogue with the owner since there are a number of choices during the process. We take care of restoration of rust, paint, leather, interior, engine, chroming, suspension, gearbox and all other services and deliver the car complete. Please find two examples of Jaguar MK VII Jaguar MK VIII restorations below. You can also visit (www.zvunex.se) or send an e-mail to zvunex@yahoo.se for further discussion.

Recent Restoration Projects

Jaguar MK VIII

A Jaguar MK VIII came into the workshop for “final assembly.” We noticed that it was obviously something wrong and contacted the owner. The previous restoration had covered up huge problems so we had to dismantle the car completely and remove all the paint as a first step.

After the paint was removed, it was obvious that the rust repair had to be redone. The paint covered a large number of problems and the welding process started.

The rust was hidden behind the paint everywhere and new panels had to be manufactured. Simultaneously we restored the complete interior, electrical wiring and engine. The frame was in good condition, so we did not do a body-off restoration. After all the components were complete, the reassembly started.

After the complete rust repair process a few layers of 2K primer were applied.
All the instruments, switches, wiring and the wood panels, were carefully stored, ready to be refitted.

After the restoration was completed the car was test driven before delivery.

Re-Chroming

Here are two examples of dented and damaged bumpers , now fully repaired and rechromed.

Jaguar MK VIIM

When this car arrived we were aware that it was in really bad condition however nobody really understood how bad it truly was!

During its early life, it had been smashed and was repaired, it had rusted and been repaired, it was smashed again and was once more repaired.

During its early life, it had been smashed and was repaired, it had rusted and been repaired, it was smashed again and was once more repaired.

Our initial assessment told us that the filler of the wings was more than 1″ and the chassis was rusted and bent.

The dismantling started. All parts were restored after they were removed from the car.
