The clips to hold the wheel trims onto the wheel can be fabricated from jubilee/radiator hose clips.
Undo the clip and straighten it out.
Cut the ‘screw in’ part of the clip.
Bend the end of the straightened clip a little more than a right angle.
The screw in part can then be refitted on the strip. It will be found that it is better to bend the end of the clip the one way rather than the other – the screw in part will be less obtrusive.
When the wheel is fitted back onto the car, it is ABSOLUTELY VITAL that you check that no part of the clip catches on anything when the wheel revolves. This is particularly relevant on a Mk 9. If fitted incorrectly the clip can catch on the front brake bridge pipe.
